Treasure Hunt

The day of the treasure hunt was chaotic and it was hard to keep 3 groups of 7-8 children ranging from ages 10-19 year old to cooperate and work as a team. We had started by briefing the children on the do's and dont's of the game We had set up hidden clues all over the center following different routes. The treasure hunt started by briefing the children on the do's and dont's of the game and divided the groups accordingly. The first clue was given out by each of the mentors in order to start the game. After the prize giving, we hada debriefing session in order to enloghten the kids on the 7 habits of Effective people they had incorporated into the game. We had received constructive criticism from Mr Perera on how our program initiative could be improved. For example, by breaking down the 7 habits to 3 habits, restricting the camp to a specific number and age group and reducing the quality of the incentive provided for the children to join this leadership program.

We used the 7 habits of highly effective teenagers by Sean Covey because of the book’s focus as the title suggests; Youth Junction caters to the youths (10-19) in hopes to prevent them from going down troubling paths that may ruin their future. It included a few resourceful activities that can be incorporated into the improved (habit of the week) initiative.
